 The Balclutha was the last ship to fly the Hawaiian flag and was also named STAR of ALASKA operating between San Francisco and Chignik Alaska for the Alaska Packers Association and later named PACIFIC QUEEN.

It's been a tough last couple years after 5 months of shipyard work, a failed 2018 Chignik salmon run and other challenges, but things are looking up after a sucessful 2019 salmon season in southeast Alaska. The ALEUTIAN EXPRESS is taking shape. back to mechanical, electrical and interior projects for the fall.

At John Wayne Marina continuing remodel of galley interior and Captain stateroom project. Forward cranes rams and planetary are being rebuilt. Fresh oil and filters. Installing more LED lights.

Winter projects:
After a whirlwind spring shipyard at Port Townsend and completing projects for a USCG Fishing Vessel Safety inspection we departed Port Angeles, Washington for King Cove, Alaska packing salmon along the Gulf of Alaska side and Bering Sea sides of the Alaska Peninsula. The vessel is now docked in Washington State for winter repairs and refitting.

Week of April 2 to 7:Constructing midmast this week and completing aft section interior. Next week framing begins on new raised pilot station and replacement of the wheelhouse roof. Engine room work on rainy days
